 The soulful sound of MeLinda Ford's saxophone playing is a mixture of Jazz, Gospel, Rhythm/Blues and Southern Soul.  She started playing the saxophone in the public schools of Southwestern, Virginia.  Her family rooted her in the church and after some coaching started playing her saxophone in the church. Graduating from high school she was awarded a music scholarship to attend Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia to major in Music Education.  After graduating from Virginia Union University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in 1996 she decided to become a high school band director in Central Virginia. With some years of teaching on her resume, she attended Shenandoah University Conservatory of Music in Winchester, Virginia and received a Masters degree in Music Education in 2005. MeLinda has been professional music educator for over 22 years. She is an arranger, composer, bandleader, studio musician, music adjudicator, business owner and still a church musician. She loves to mentor young musicians and music educators. Her current CD Christmas Love and her debut CD, “My Commitment to You” displays her personal commitment to Soulful music and her love of different music genres.
